Statement by India at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group 30th Session (7-18 May 2018) : 3rd UPR of Djibouti – Interactive Dialogue, delivered by Dr. A. Sudhakara Reddy, Counsellor (Legal). [Geneva, 10 May 2018]

Mr. President,

India welcomes the delegation of Djibouti and thanks them for successful presentation of their national report.

2. We welcome the initiative of Djibouti to strengthen the National Human Rights Commission and bringing it in accordance with international standards, based on the Paris Principles to promote and protect human rights.

3. We encourage the continued efforts of Djibouti to implement National Education Master Plan for the period 2010-2019 to ensure universal enrolment in basic education. To achieve the desired goals of the Action Plan, we encourage increasing the quality of teaching, adequate training to teachers, and reduction in school dropout rates.

4. We appreciate Djiboutifor setting up of the National Employment Policy with the aim to reduce the unemployment rate by creating new opportunities.

5. We also recognize several measures taken by Djibouti for creating environment in which all children may exercise fundamental rights and enjoy equal access to basic services.

6. We wish the delegation of Djiboutiallsuccess.
