India warmly welcomes the delegation of Myanmarand thanks them for their comprehensive presentation, highlighting their position on the recommendations received during their second UPR review held on 6th November 2015.

2.We commend the government ofMyanmar for the constructive manner in which it participated in its UPR review. The review witnessed a high degree of participation, with as many as 93 delegations taking the floor and 281recommendations addressed to Myanmar that cover a range of human rights issues. It is encouraging to note that Myanmar accepted as many as 166of the recommendations.

3.Myanmar made a remarkable democratic transition through the historic general elections in November 2015. It deserves the acknowledgement of the international community for its steadfast will for a constructive engagement with UN mechanisms.

4.India believes that Myanmar has gained much from its participation in the UPR and will continue with its efforts to implement the recommendations accepted by it in the coming years. We wish Myanmar all success in implementing accepted recommendations.
