Thank you, Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Iran for the adoption the report of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of Iran held on 31st October 2014. We thank the delegation for its statement providing an update on the report of Iran's second review under UPR.

2. We commend Iran for the receptive and constructive manner in which it participated in the UPR mechanism. The review reflected the intense participation and engagement by peer countries, with as many as 104 delegations taking the floor and 291 recommendations made.

3. It is encouraging to note that Iran has accepted 189 of the recommendations including four recommendations made by our delegation.

4. India believes that Iran will continue with its efforts to implement the recommendations accepted by it in the coming years. While recommending the adoption of the report on its UPR, we warmly congratulate Iran for its successful review and wish it all success in its present and future endeavors.
