Joint Celebration of Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas and Vishwa Hindi Diwas

As part of celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an event to celebrate Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas and Vishwa Hindi Diwas was organized by Permanent Mission of India / Consulate General of India, Geneva on 10 January 2023 at 1800 hrs. CET at WIPO.    A short video film prepared by Ministry of Culture on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was played.  Excerpts of Prime Minister’s address inaugurating the 17th Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas Convention and the valedictory address by President of India were played. Quotes of PM’s message on Vishwa Hindi Diwas were displayed at the screen and read out. 

Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey, PR of India to the UN and other IOs delivered Welcome Remarks and encouraged diaspora members for enhanced linkages with the motherland. Consul General Shri Sunil Achaya presented an overview of GOI’s initiatives for the diaspora. 

Video messages from Shri Md. K. Nazeeruddin, Professor at EPFL University, Ms. Nandini Srivastava, renowned poetess and Dr. Yojana Jain, CEO, Healthprax were played.  Keynote Speakers included Shri Milan Morjaria, Founder, MSM Investment Advisers and Smt. Shivani Bhardwaj, Founder, Sunday Hindi School.  Children from the diaspora gave recitations in Hindi. 

At the end of the event, winners of Hindi essay, poem and painting competitions, organized on the occasion of Vishwa Hindi Diwas, were felicitated with Certificates of Appreciation and prizes. The event was participated by around 150 members of the Indian diaspora, including students.
